The O’Brien’s team were once again feeling a great sense of pride having completed yet another high profile synthetic sports surface installation.
The project, which is the first phase of the new Shamrock Rovers Academy, was the culmination of months of planning, hard graft and team work.

Speaking at the project launch, Ciaran O’Brien said, “Being involved with the project has been rewarding in so many ways. We always get great satisfaction from completing projects to the highest standard but this one was special. It involved the local community, will encourage youngsters to take up football, it allowed us to work with Roadstone and of course, being a Dub, it was fantastic to create a facility that will be used by Shamrock Rovers.”
The Shamrock Rovers Academy is located at the Roadstone sports facility in Kingswood and will cater for to up 250 children and young people training at elite level each week. It will also serve as the training base for the Shamrock Rovers first team. “The opening of the FIFA Pro All Weather pitch marks a significant milestone for the Shamrock Rovers Academy. Phase One of the project is a major first step in the club’s pathway of excellence from under 8s right through to the club’s first team, following in the principles of the FAI’s Player Development Pathway,” commented John Delaney, CEO Football Association of Ireland. Delaney was joined by Dr Katherine Zappone, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs at the official launch.
